Flash is a wildly popular web animation format developed by Macromedia.  It's gained rapid acceptance because Flash animations are exceptionally quick to load.  More than 90 percent of Internet users have web browser software which is already equipped to view Flash animations, and the few who aren't can get hooked up for free at the Macromedia web site. 

If it should move, it can be executed in Flash: web page interfaces, splash screens, page accents, games, graphics that are enhanced with zooming and playback … your imagination is the limit.
